While studying textiles in Shetland I had an amazing opportunity to take part in a research project run by Global Yell, looking at the history of tweed production in the islands.

Together with Hannah, Kirsty and Andy we visited archives, browsed local collections and met retired weavers to chat with. This small project provided us a lot of new information about the patterns, processes, machinery, investments and working conditions.

You’ll find more information on the Shetland Tweed Project Facebook page.
